Tai Chi & Qigong

Tai Chi and Qigong (pronounced “chi gung”) are ancient Chinese traditions based on the theory of Yin and Yang (movement and stillness). Both practices simultaneously strengthen the body while developing the mind. On a physical level, the movements of Tai Chi and Qigong allow us to develop strength, flexibility and circulate blood and Qi (life energy). On a more spiritual and emotional level the practices teach us how to train our attention, to become an observer without judgment and let go of conditioned habits that hinder our growth.

We all naturally seek to achieve a sense of wellness and balance. Too often our daily lives create feelings of stress, anxiety and imbalance. By developing daily practices of Tai Chi and Qigong we build skills to return to a place of peace and calm.

To meet the individual needs of my students I attune myself to their unique modes and rhythms of learning. My focus is on basics: breath, movement, awareness, posture, relaxation, coordination, and mind. I have a systematic approach to teaching that allows beginners and advanced practitioners to gain a deeper understanding of their practice, embarking on an infinite journey of self-discovery and exploration. Through the regular practice of Tai Chi and Qigong students will experience long lasting benefits of physical, emotional and spiritual health that reach far beyond the time spent doing the forms.

I offer ongoing classes in Wu Style Style Tai Chi and Daoist Qigong, incorporating the practice of Mindful Movement with a focus on learning to move from the inside out. The classes will benefit anybody, at all levels of experience. While you are welcome to drop in, you will benefit from attending weekly, as the classes build upon one another.
